Many people who come to see me feel the same way at first- curious but cautious. That’s why I’ve written this guide: to explain exactly what you can expect, from your first conversation to your final results, so you can feel confident and fully informed.

Dermal fillers are a fantastic way to restore volume, smooth fine lines, and enhance facial contours without surgery or long recovery times. At my clinic just outside Derby, I specialise in natural-looking, medically led treatments that are tailored to you.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels made with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that keeps skin plump and hydrated.

As we age, our natural levels of hyaluronic acid decline, leading to volume loss and the appearance of wrinkles. At Revitalise You Aesthetics, I only use clinically approved, medical-grade fillers from trusted brands to help rejuvenate the face safely and naturally.

Before Treatment: Friendly Consultation, No Pressure

Every treatment begins with a comprehensive in-person consultation.

It’s a relaxed chat where I take the time to understand what’s brought you in, explain your options clearly, and make sure you feel completely at ease.

We’ll cover:

  • Your concerns and goals

  • Treatment options and realistic expectations

  • Medical history and safety checks

  • Any questions you have - nothing is too small or silly to ask

There’s no pressure to go ahead on the day. Many of my clients from Derby, Long Eaton, and across Derbyshire appreciate having time to consider everything before making a decision.

During Treatment: Gentle and Comfortable

On the day of your appointment, we’ll start by cleansing the area and applying a numbing cream to maximise comfort.

Most fillers also contain lidocaine; a local anaesthetic, to make the process even smoother.

The treatment usually takes 15-30 minutes, depending on the area. I use refined, precise techniques with either fine needles or cannulas to minimise bruising and give smooth, natural-looking results.

Most people describe the treatment as quick and far more comfortable than expected.

After Treatment: Subtle Results, Minimal Downtime

You’ll see results straight away, though these will continue to settle over the next week or so as any minor swelling reduces.

A few helpful aftercare tips:

  • Avoid touching or massaging the area for at least 6 hours

  • No alcohol, exercise, or saunas for 24 hours

  • Sleep with your head slightly elevated on the first night

  • Avoid facials or other beauty treatments for one week

You’ll leave with personalised aftercare instructions, and I’m always available for support if you have questions or concerns after treatment.

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

Most dermal fillers last between 6 to 18 months, depending on the treated area, the product used, and your metabolism.

Lip fillers may fade a little faster than cheek or jawline filler, for example. Many of my clients in Derby and surrounding areas book in once or twice a year to maintain their look. We can discuss a longer-term plan if you'd like to keep your results topped up gently and gradually.

Are Dermal Fillers Safe?

Yes, when done properly, by the right professional. As a registered nurse with extensive aesthetic training, I always prioritise safety, hygiene, and ethical care.
